"Done-for-you" creator stores: what the phrase actually means

Every creator-commerce platform promises to make selling easy. They mean different things by it, and the difference decides how many of your evenings the store will consume. Here is what each category actually does.

Three categories, not one market

CategoryYou still doIt does
Self-serve store builderEverything: products, copy, design, suppliers, pricingHosts the store and takes payments
Print-on-demand storefrontDesigns, product choice, pricing, promotionPrints and ships when an order arrives
Done-for-you platformPromote it to your audience, approve what goes liveBuilds the store, composes the catalogue, runs fulfilment

None of these is better in the abstract. They trade your money against your time at different rates, and the right answer depends on which of the two you actually have.

Where self-serve builders hurt

They are the cheapest to start and the most expensive to finish. The platform fee is small; the hours are not. You will choose suppliers you cannot evaluate, set prices without knowing your landed cost, and discover shipping rules the first time a customer in another country orders.

They make sense if you already know your product, already have a supplier, and enjoy operations. That is a real profile — it is just not most creators.

Where print-on-demand storefronts hurt

Two limits show up quickly, and reviewers name them repeatedly. First, the catalogue is blanks: tees, hoodies, mugs. If your audience wants something that is not a blank, you are stuck. Second, margins on printed goods are thinner than they look once production and fulfilment are deducted.

There is also a quieter cost: the store lives on their platform. If you leave, the storefront and often the customer relationship stay behind.

Where done-for-you hurts — including us

Honesty is worth more than a clean table here. Done-for-you costs more upfront, because someone is doing work that would otherwise be yours. If your store does not sell, you have paid for a store that does not sell.

It also means less day-one control. Someone else composed the first catalogue. You should be able to change every item of it — if you cannot, that is not a service, it is a cage.

How to choose in one pass

Questions

Is done-for-you just an agency with a website?
It should not be. An agency bills you monthly to keep doing the work. A platform builds the store once and then runs the machinery — payments, supplier orders, tracking — without a human in the loop for each order.
Can I move my store later?
Ask before you sign. What you should be able to take with you at minimum: your domain, your customer emails, and your product list. Ask each platform in writing.
What does Creavela not do?
We do not run your marketing, and we do not promise sales. We build the store, compose the catalogue with you, and run fulfilment. Bringing the audience is still your job — it is also the part nobody can do for you.

Want the store built for you?
